The love between Jordyn and Casey could be felt for miles. From the time that you arrived through the front gates of the gorgeous Rose Hill Plantation you felt like you were beginning to watch one of the best romantic comedies ever! The leading lady is a tall, gorgeous blonde. She's quirky but elegant and you can't take your eyes off of her. The man she's to marry is her match, plucked right out of the casting catalog. Tall, handsome, sandy blonde hair and just about the nicest man you could ever meet. He also is quirky, silly and just the type of guy any mother would dream of for her daughter. The venue and backdrop for the day? Rose Hill Plantation is part of a country estate established in 1762 through a land grant from King George II to the Boddie family and nestled in the country side of North Carolina. To make it even more dreamy, North Carolina's trees were at peak color and it only added to the festivity of the day. However, not everything can be perfect and even this lovely pair ran into their fair share of snags. Although the day started out a comfortable sunny and 72 degrees, we quickly realized that we would be dealing with a very aggressive cold front (that was set to move in later in the evening, after everyone was safe and sound indoors) that would drop temperatures into the 40's and bring on incredibly strong wind gusts. It also brought with it a line of thunderstorms NO ONE expected. Thankfully the storms moved through quickly but the wind did not.
Jordyn and Casey were close to moving their ceremony indoors but ultimately decided to keep it outside, this way all of the guests would be able to still enjoy the cocktail hour inside the Plantation house and move into the reception afterwards, just as planned. The wind blew, and blew and blew and in a beautiful twist it just made everyone hold each other a little closer than they already were. Casey gasped for air and cried as he saw his beautiful bride walking down the aisle towards him. He warned me that he would, but he was one groom I fully expected to be emotional. You see, shortly after photographing their engagement photos over a year ago he was deployed to Afghanistan to serve our country and he had only recently returned home. In this case absence makes the heart grow fonder and Jordyn and Casey truly are each others best friend. They weathered the storm for nearly a year without each other and on their wedding day. I have no doubt that they will be an inspiration to so many that they meet for years and years to come. It was our honor and privilege to see them become Mr. and Mrs. Peay! Congratulations Jordyn and Casey; may you always find warmth in each other on the coldest of days!
